THINGS TO NOTE FROM MY WEDDING

A glorious Wedding to a loving Spouse is what most people if not everyone desires to have. We’ve all at various times being given ideas and advice on so many things but really, an advice coming form experience is worth heeding to and I’m about doing that so you could be prepared for all the challenges and “disappointments” that may characterise the day before and the very day.
Before you start out in planning a wedding at all, it is very important that you take out adequate time to pray. As you plan, make sure that everything is consciously committed into the hands of God in fasting and prayer. It’s very important that you and your Spouse are fully involved in this spiritual exercise. Marriage is a good thing and of course, we should know that the devil does not want any good thing. Imagine one chasing a thousand and two, putting a whole ten thousand to flight? Get ready for a fight! especially if your relationship is a purposeful one.
Some months before my wedding, the Holy Spirit spoke clearly these words into my ears… “Prepare for war” I was wondering from where it was coming from. Could it be my health? Finances or what? I could not lay my hands on one thing, but something was sure… no matter the challenge, it will submit to the authority of the word in prayer and fasting. So what did I do, I and my Fiancé then, started out in prayer and fasting. Oppositions started coming up even as at 2weeks to the wedding. I’ll save you the details but today, we are celebrating.
Let me be more practical on some few things that happened which I know that if no prayer had gone forth earlier, it could have been worst. First, I went to withdraw some amount from the bank for the wedding purposes, about a week to the wedding. After withdrawing, I went to an eatery, went to the convenience to freshen up because I had an interview. Few minutes at the place of my interview while waiting, I suddenly realized my wallet wasn’t in my bag anymore. I figured out it could be where I went to eat. Getting there, my wallet was returned to me EMPTY! I thought I was dreaming. I became destabilized and could not even gather myself together for the interview ahead of me. In few seconds, tears trickled down my eyes! Funny? Because of money?.... I felt it! My Fiance called, laughed it off and told me to forget about it immediately. But the truth is that money was lost.
Well, few days I was to collect the Aso-Oke for the traditional wedding, I was told that the man I had paid for to do it had died! Can you beat that? After thousands spent on calls to verify if it was on ground, I finally gave up on it and went to Lagos to buy another one. Bringing it back home, I was told by my mum and Sister that I bought the old fashioned one that has been used in the 80’s. lol? Anyways, we had to go somewhere else, thanks to my mum and her high spirits. We finally had another one done expressely, more expensive but more glorious.
Now, let me come back to the HUMAN FACTOR. Your so called friends can be extremely disappointing at this time and really, God forbid me to mention names, but some people I had placed high there were no where to be found. Various excuses abound and some even employed the silent treatment method. You’re left to imagine what your offence was, but really do we have to offend the devil before he gives us a good fight?
Some ignored requests, some promised heaven and earth and some did not just show up! Like I said some time ago, God allows some people to prove themselves to you at a particular point in time so that you can know those who are worthy to cross into the next phase of your life with you. Bottom line, don’t be fooled by the smiles. Be discerning!
Enough of that, where do I start from in sharing my testimonies? The day has come and gone, I give God all the glory, the rest is the MARRIAGE itself and I bet you, that’s what matters most.
I want to use this opportunity to appreciate every one that called me, sent their text, pasted on my wall and sent comments on face book, those that came physically, those that said yes on the events page and never came (lol) and most humbling was my course mate while at the University… Sister Yemi, she  came all the way with her clutches! When it was time to present gifts, she stood up and slowly came forward. All the way to Canaan Land? Now, I want to cry…. What manner of love is this? Be sure of one thing… God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.
I want to seize this oppourtunity once again to pray for those that desire the miracle of marriage. Yes, it’s a miracle! That the almighty God will surprise you on all sides and give you the man or woman that will love you unconditionally for who you are.
As I’ve stepped into this new phase of my life, join me as I bless your lives with various articles, topics and debates on relationship issues. I love you all but I love my Husband more (lol)
Our Wedding pictures will come on line as soon as the editing is done.
Also, please bear with me as regards my change of name. The Scott at the end of my name is a Facebook error I’m still working on it to strike it out.
Yours in Love,
Bukola Adeolu-‘Dele
